The Story of Zegul Kayaks
The story of Zegul Kayaks is where Scandinavian design heritage meets modern European craftsmanship.
It began in 1955, with the founding of Struer Boats in Denmark—a company built on a simple yet powerful idea: to design and produce kayaks that truly belong on the water. Shaped by Danish designers and a deep understanding of the sea, these kayaks quickly earned a reputation for their purity of form, functionality, and performance. Over time, many of these designs became enduring icons of European kayaking.
As the market evolved and demand grew, Scandinavian brands began searching for new ways to scale production without compromising their identity. This led to the creation of the Zegul Group—bringing together respected brands and proven designs. Yet one key challenge remained: how to ensure consistent, high-quality manufacturing at scale.
The turning point came with the partnership between a Danish visionary and kayak producer, Kim Kemp, and a Polish composite kayak manufacturer, Szymon Mackiewicz. From the very beginning, this collaboration was driven by a shared mindset—precision, innovation, and an uncompromising approach to quality. In Poland, production had already been refined over years, with a strong focus on vacuum infusion technology—delivering exceptional consistency, strength, and durability.
What started as a collaboration soon evolved into a shared vision. When the opportunity arose to take over the Zegul Group, it was a natural next step—to unite design, heritage, and manufacturing under one roof.
Today, Zegul Kayaks represents the fusion of strong Scandinavian brands, renowned designers, and advanced production in Poland. Under the Zegul name, some of Europe’s most recognizable kayak designs continue to live, evolve, and perform—shaped by decades of experience and trusted by paddlers around the world.
Zegul Kayaks is more than a brand.
It is a continuation of a legacy—refined, reimagined, and built for the future.
