How to choose the right watersport for you

There’s nothing better than spending time on the water with family and friends and enjoying all the liquid world has to offer. TAHE offers a wide range of watersports, each with a unique approach to interacting with water, wind and waves. Not sure which sport is right for you? Here are a few points to consider as you decide.

  • Kayaking | The ‘original’ watersport! Great for those who prefer to be seated when out on the water. Our sit-on-top range is user-friendly and easy to get started. Kayaking is a great choice for anyone who wants a fun watersports experience without the learning curve of the board sports.
  • Stand Up Paddling | This relatively new watersport takes a bit more balance and requires you to use your lower body more than in a kayak. If you prefer to stand, not sit, but still want an easy entry into watersports, SUP is for you. And remember, you can alway sit, or lie down, on your board and relax!
  • Surfing | If you spend time along the coastline where waves are available surfing is a great way to interact with the unique energy and sensation of gliding across a wave. You’ll have to spend more time learning the skill set for surfing compared to kayaking or SUP, but the reward is worth it if you have the ambition!
  • Windsurfing | This watersport is unique in that you’re harnessing wind power to travel across the water. You can think of a windsurfer as a tiny, personal sailboat, and all the skills you learn and need for sailing apply here. There is more gear involved for windsurfing compared to other watersports, but the sensation of flying over the water under wind power is an amazing experience.
